Who's afraid of YouTube? Not MTV2!

Categories: Web/Tech

13930__showzen_lIn the world of network TV, it seems like everybody’s cracking down on that addictive Internet substance known as YouTube — except, apparently, for MTV2. Indeed, while NBC and CBS recently demanded the video-sharing site remove pirated video clips from its lineup, MTV2 has gone in a different direction, linking up with YouTube to promote new seasons of The Andy Milonakis Show and Wonder Showzen (pictured). I think it’s a strategy that makes sense; for some reason, I’ve always avoided adding Wonder Showzen to my DVR schedule, but after catching this sick segment called "Mr. Body," consider me hooked.

Andy Milanakis is coming back! I really dug his work until I found out dude is 30! His work seemed brilliant to me for a teenager (he looks super young), but a little asonine for a man of 30. That said, I’ll be glued to the tube for his next episode.
Anyone see him in Waiting? Gotta go, it’s almost 4:20…

Wonder Showzen is easily one of the best things that’s been on tv in a long time–I can’t wait for the new season.
It’s actually been a pretty good year for interesting TV comedy, between Wonder Showzen, Arrested Development, The Lance Krall Show, Reno 911, Colbert Report…

And what do these shows have in common (with the possible exception of Arrested Development)?
They’re on cable! NBC cracked down on YouTube because they weren’t quick enough to capitalize on the Lazy Sunday phenomenon. If you can’t beat ‘em, issue a cease and desist order.

Ironically, the video linked to has now been removed from YouTube. There’s a little message at the top of the page saying it was taken off due to a copyright violation claim by Viacom.
