'The Bachelor': The ladies tell all

Categories: Reality TV, The Bachelor

94122__bachelor_lHere’s a few questions to contemplate after last night’s ”Women Tell All” episode of The Bachelor. (And lest anyone forget the theme, host Chris Harrison kindly repeated the phrase ”tell all” a total of 15 times in one hour.)

-Can anyone refute the following mathematical formula? (above, from left to right) "Runaway Bride" Jennifer Wilbanks + Elisabeth Shue = Sarah Tennessee

-What’s the going price for Harrison’s soul these days? Not only did he spout such bald-faced lies as calling this season ”the most talked-about ever” and describing the formerly mop-tressed Travis as ”a Bachelor the country has gone crazy for,” but the bland hostbot seemed genuinely jazzed about watching Susan cry and piling on the humiliation for ”rotten eggs” chick Allie G, who mercifully decided to skip the show. (Kudos to Travis for chivalrously refusing to answer questions about the reproduction-obsessed physician.)

-If there was a stake and some kindling on the stage, do you think the Bachelorettes would’ve actually set Susan on fire? (As if the plastic beauty was the only chick on stage who was hoping to use ABC’s reality dating series as a launching pad for a career in TV! Ha!)

-Was Tara drunk during the taping, or does she just have a Slur-vodkian accent? Either way, she had the night’s best outtake quote: ”I don’t know much, but I can drink.”

-How awesome was Moana’s comment about feeling uncomfortable ”being locked in a house with 24 other hussies”? And on the flip side, how scary was that clip from next week’s show about her being able to see her own soul shining back in Travis’ eyes? Do people actually talk like that in real life?

-Finally, am I the only person hoping ”model” Jennifer is permanently banished from television (except for maybe some work as Tara Reid’s stunt double)? Bad enough that she skewered likable Sarah Canada for using a baby voice just seconds before the producers showed her own infantile banter about burning marshmallows, but her end-of-episode ”I love Moana” speech actually had me screaming at my television. Clearly, the only reason for her softened feelings was hearing Harrison mention Moana’s popularity with Bachelor viewers. And while we’re asking questions: Where exactly does girlfriend get her modeling work? For her local supermarket circular?

Who do you think is going to win this season’s prize of becoming ”a doctor’s wife”? Moana or Sarah Tennessee?

They have been pushing Moana too much so I think it’s got to be Sarah. The Bachelor is famous for it’s editing and last night we finally saw clips of Travis really kissing Sarah and them having a good time together. So far it’s been so proper between them two that you wondered why he said it was so formal with Susan (didn’t look so formal in the hot tub!) but kept giving a rose to Sarah.

  • steph

I think it will be Sarah. Moana’s just way too attatched to the guy.

  • DRS

Did Sarah Canada have plastic surgery while she was away?!? Her face didn’t move. Like, at all.

  • melissa

I’m going with Sarah as the final rose – mostly because I’ve seen spoilers suggesting that the winner is from Travis’ hometown. Plus, as much as I like Moana for being against-type for the show.. she really seems a little unstable. Enough with all the weepy confessionals!

  • toonces

i really wish it could be Moana, and am still pulling for her. Sarah is just a ‘friend’ to Travis and i dont think that changes. i know ‘the sex thing gets in the way’ but still….
go moana! but keep the tears in check girl.

  • gosarah

Agree with everything you said, except the picture math- don’t see it. Sarah is actually pretty. She also is classy and Southern, and no one wants to see that combo! If she did something hickish, we would see that. That made no sense for Jennifer to say “I love Moana now” – they must have edited out quite a lot to get to that point. Of course, with Chris telling them that everyone loves her, which is not true, she wanted to look good. M looks even more unstable now. “My soul staring back at me?” weird. Am I the only one who noticed during the show Sarah B’s weird little forehead furrow she does when she looks puzzled? she did it again last night.

That train wreck of a “reunion” last night made me embarassed for my gender. Jennifer was a total witch. I too was wondering if Tara was drunk–she must have been when she picked out that hideous pink top/green earring combo. Travis acted like a gentleman–he seems like a genuinely nice guy, down-to-earth and polite. I think the show would have been a lot better if he had kept some of the women who he initially rejected right off the bat: the most intelligent and thoughtful comments last night came from the women who were kicked off after one or two episodes.
As for Sara vs. Moana–I don’t think Travis is into either one that deeply and I don’t think he really is ready to propose and settle down. I think he’ll move to Colorado and find a nice girl there.
Oh, BTW how disgusting is it that ABC keeps using the phrase “doctor’s wife”? I’d like to see them try that phrase out on the women of “Grey’s Anatomy”. Makes me want to McVomit!

I agree about Jennifer- why does she get all that face time….I could CARE LESS what she thinks. I felt bad for Susan and totally agree that you can bet everyone on there is going to try to get into acting. I would if I were them! She probably started out the show just to get exposure and who knows, maybe ended up liking Travis. That scenario makes sense to me. I can say I NEVER saw any real interest between annoying Jennifer and Travis.
I liked how Travis mentioned that his friend really liked whatshername (that silly but sweet blond girl)…maybe he could set them up!

I think you’re right that Travis and Sarah seemed to really hit it off on the clips last night, but I’d hate to see Sarah win. She just doesn’t strike me as a genuine person. In the first few episodes, she proved to be just as caddy as some of the other hussies in the group. I even read somewhere that those children that they showed playing with Sarah & Travis’ home date in TN were her students from LAST year. Sarah’s principal wouldn’t let her keep working at the school while doing the show at the same time, so she quit. NBC had to contact the parents of those children themselves, just to get the kids to be on the show with Sarah. I wonder what Travis thinks of all that. I really want Moana to win. I feel sorry for all the bad talk about her from the other girls. I can’t see Travis really being with either one in natural circumstances, but for the sake of this show, I’m routing for Moana…In terms of editing, I think the producers have shone the light in favor of Sarah up until last night when the host flat out said, “the TV audience is routing for Moana.” You’re right though…the clips of Sarah and Travis last night did seem like they were really hitting it off more than they showed on the actual episodes… Sigh… this is stressful! I can’t wait until next week when Travis’ parents grill the girls.

I had no clue that America was rooting for Moana. If they are talking about the Bachelor Ceremony rose game on ABC.com, I guessed who I thought Travis would choose and not who I want him to choose. I really haven’t seem any other opinion polls to know where his source data is from.
I think Moana did not click with the girls, but she was there for Travis. She doesn’t have to explain her motives to the others. But she has cried an awful lot lately. I looked at my husband with that “soul…mirror…eyes” comment and wanted to barf. I genuinely love my husband, but have never had a feeling I would describe that way. Travis doesn’t seem so deep to me. But he is calling Moana “girlfriend” and we haven’t seen him use the term to describe Sarah Tennessee.
I like and have always liked Sarah Tennessee. Maybe because I thought that distance has killed other relationships and that if he chose her, they would be more likely to last. They have common interests and her family likes him, which is something Moana doesn’t have in her favor. But my in-laws and I don’t really get along so that might not be a huge plus or minus however you look at it.
I was glad Susan left because I didn’t quite trust her [How could you after what her mom said? Am I supposed to know her better than her mom?], but I wanted to smash Chris Harrison last night. He was not the host gentleman that he normally is. He seemed to enjoy the catty nature of it all. Some of those ladies were out of control and needed to be stopped. Chris doesn’t have a lot to do with the show except “Ladies this is the last rose of the evening.” so maybe he was trying to prove his worth with the network. But still, do we have to make the women out to be stereotypically catty females?
Travis has been a good choice of a bachelor. He seems honest. I can’t wait to see who he picks next week.

What an action packed hour of television……. There was more ice dancing going on than in the Olympics, not! Did anyone else notice the tarnishing of St. Sarah’s halo? In the “outakes/candid moments” she seemed just as catty and evil and the rest of the rapid dogs. Oh, right, she didn’t say anything bad in front of Travis about Moana just proving she’s probably the best actress on the show (watch out Susan -she’ll get the coveted lead role in the Runaway Bride made for Lifetime movie)Girlfried showed herself to be petty, and jealous .. the smile for Travis and the TV cameras were well crafted ..watch out for this vile southern belle!

  • krosstx

I think Travis and Sarah make a cute couple. Moana is kinda scary with her crying and soul insight She seems a little unstable to me. I wonder who his sister is talking about when she says,”You really like her?” And then they show Moana crying. hmmmm…guess we’ll just have to wait and see! I can’t imagine his family NOT liking our sweet Sarah.

  • djm

I only watched the first episode of this season and was immediately turned off. If history is any indicator, neither of these women are going to be this particular “doctor’s wife” – he will profess his love for one of them and then in a few days/weeks/months time they will be mentioned in passing in some gossip column as having broke up. Does anyone REALLY think it’s going to be different this time?

  • Laura

Did anyone see Date Movie? The “Extreme Bachelor Desperate Edition” where Chris Harrison handed the guy a shotgun to shoot all the girls who were not getting a rose to the Price Is Right theme was the best part of the movie.

  • Nicky

Sarah Tennesse…yawn…she’s boring, just no wow to her, I’m surprised she made it this far. If he’s looking for adventure as he claims, not likely to find that with her.
Awkward for Travis if he picks Moana and Sarah lives only a couple of blocks away from him!

  • Rain

Michael, I know that you like Moana, but come, be objective, she’s phony and fake even more than Susan (your fav. target). “Hussies” got to give her credit for that, including herself as one.
I like Sarah for him. Go Sarah.
Jennifer is just jealous of Suan because looks more like a model than she does and very funny Michael (local supermarket circular lol!!!) – I was asking the same question about her “model” fame.

  • CaseyL

I was embarressed to be from the same city as Jennifer. Not all us Boston gals are so freaking ANGRY!!!
I think Sarah from Canada actually regrouped and showed a little maturity last night. Tara is what she is; a stupid, drunk cow.
I am glad Allie G had smarts enough NOT to go on the show and be put up against that vapid bunch. I would like to think she realized she was crazy and is now seeking some professional help.
I agree, some of the best comments came from the earliest booted. But those women also did not have a chance to get involved so it’s easy to be more diplomatic when your own personal interests aren’t involved.
I think Sara from TN will get the rose, but she and Travis will never get married. Moana, while unstable, has a lot more going on than Travis and the equally borring Sara. I’ve said it before, Moana is too much for Travis to handle.
I can’t wait until next week. This week wasn’t even an interesting tease.
Here’s an idea; Moana for the next Bachelorette??
Are they really going to make another new series out of this show???

  • Nicole

Travis and Sarah are perfect for each other. She just seems so sweet and geniune. She looks really hot at the final rose ceremony. She should have looked like that the whole season. She has a lot of potenial. I don’t like Moana, she is a weirdo. I wonder how Travis feels about her after watching this season. Is he like, ‘what was I smoking?’

  • becky

Travis has made a huge mistake. he shouldve stuck with sarah canada. she is the hottest and she has a great personality (or what weve seen of it). she is absolutely adorable dispite her age. The only thing i liked about Moana was her leaf earrings.

  • Tania

I really think Sarah and Travis do make a better couple and we really can’t say she’s all that boring because as we’ve seen in previous bachelor shows, they don’t show EVERYTHING and that is where they lead us to believe it’s the other girl and not the one they pick in the end. Moana showed no emotion in front of the women and too much in front of Travis. I think her crying tactics make her crazy. I know I would run the other way if a man cried too much for me. It’s too weird. As far as the other girls “claiming” they like her now? I don’t believe it, it went from I hate her to I like her. I think Moana more than Susan is the actress because making herself so mysterious to Travis makes him want her more. She played with the minds of the other women into believing like she didn’t care, then crying her eyes out in videos and in front of Travis’parents. Moana, Is Sybil in there? He says a couple of times he’d like to get to know her because she’s so mysterious, she kept him intrigued that way. Also, I can’t see Moana doing so well as doctor’s wife in Nashville. Even if he moves, she seems to be the kind of woman who “needs” adventure and romance and being in France or Italy seemed to have helped them feel more romantic, but how romantic can you be with eachother in Nashville with a husband who is an ER Doctor? I think Travis and Sarah can be happy in the middle of nowhere with no exotic location just being together and that’s where the romance is, not where you are but who you are with. And the Friendship thing, that’s key. Everyone knows how when you fall so quickly in love and it’s all fireworks and passion, it dies down faster than when you have built a friendship into a romance. Sarah has played her cards right in doing the “friendship” thing with him because if she isn’t picked, she won’t look as foolish as Moana would look by crying so much and saying things like seeing her soul in his eyes crap. Maybe she wants him so much so he can prescribe her as many crazy pills as she wants. If she can really see any soul in his eyes, I hope it’s Elvis and then Travis can break into a song of “Fools Rush In”.
As far as a spin off with any of these ladies, I like Jehan. She’s smart, older, and beautiful. She would keep it interesting enough to watch.
    I hope it’s Sarah in the end….

  • Nick

Ok…..Moana is the perfect person for Travis, sure she was a little shy and didnt show much attention for him in the begging but hey not easy when there is like crowd of girls there. You feel kinda left out. She is starting to show her loving side now i dont its cause she is in france or italy it is because she is actually starting to like him. Sarah i think within what 3 months time they will be like old people and he wont be happy and they will live dull lives.

  • Heather

What a huge disappointment this season turned out to be. Sarah? *yawns*
They won’t last. They’ll get back home, and he’ll realise just how boring she really is. She just seems TOO perfect.
I guess only time will tell.

  • Ana

OMG! I, too, am completely shocked that he picked Sarah. I really don’t know where that came from. Travis showed a lot emotion in his interactions with Moana, while behaving very ‘on-the-surface’ with Sarah. The viewers are stunned! The show is obviously clearly edited, although Moana, herself, was completely devasted. It was very clear near the end that Moana was developing a deep attachement to Travis, and I am sure that he, too, recognized that. Travis should have pulled back a bit once he decided that she was not a girl for him. At any rate, this is a complete stunner! Travis is not as sincere as I once believed. As for the show’s producers, we shall know that the next time they put forth “the girl”, it will always be the choice that is not so apparent.

  • Cris

Sarah???? How exciting, now they can go to Tennessee and live happily ever after….How boring, they will not last!!! What happened to all his plans?

  • Adrianna

I LIKED MOANA… and I LIKE SARAH TOO, she is very respectful, mature and level-headed, but seeing Moana cry like that after not being chosen makes me think I’m doing something morally wrong by watching this show, which is based upon, like Travis said “pulling the rug out from under someone’s feet.” C’mon, her parents divorced when she was 3, she said she didn’t think she DESERVED someone like Travis, and she felt like she BELONGED. ITS A PITY THAT SOMEONE SO STUNNINGLY BEAUTIFUL THINKS SO LOWLY OF HERSELF, AND HAD HER HEART BROKEN PUBLICLY. Its tragic and frankly unnecessary. And if she was my friend, and I would be her friend, I would tell her to buck up, there’s tons of guys out there that would be lucky to have someone with your beauty, depth and style and STOP CRYING AND MAKING SUCH A BIG DEAL OF IT. Love hurts. And when you get what you wish for — a husband, and eventually kids — it hurts worse, but its worth it and you keep going and you keep giving, but you’re never SAFE from hurt. But just be BRAVE AND KEEP HOPE MOANA… YOU CAN DO IT… I HOPE YOU READ THIS MESSAGE. I’ve had a broken heart too, but don’t shut yourself up into a shell again or you will always be alone and you’ll never experience the pain and the pleasure of friendship, love, of family and motherhood, and growing old with someone.
    -A

What a devastating conclusion to this show. I wholeheartedly agree with the previous poster who said that there is something morally wrong with this show, on so many levels. Moana is incredible in a million ways. But the consolation is that if Travis was too “blank” to tap into who she is and want to stand by through all of it, then he absolutely does not deserve her. He just doesn’t deserve her if he would rather be with someone like Sarah. Sarah is some kind of strange script of a bland wife — cutesy with the kids (to the point of it being theatrical and disingenuine), uncomplicated, agreeable, grounded. Moana is beautiful, exciting, wise, deep, with a vast amount of soul. She will bless the life into the man who finds love with her.

  • Jeff

Bear with me as I compare apples to oranges… Remember Trista? She got her heart broken on national television. Going through that kind of pain probably taught her a lot, helped her to evaluate what she wanted, and made her that much stronger. Moana just got her heart broken. But hearts do mend. It’s a long, difficult process, but Moana will be OK. She’s probably survived a lot of difficulties in her life, and she will get through this. This will teach her so much — to soften up, to balance out, to stabilize, to know that she is truly good enough, that she is loved, beautiful, kind, warm, loving, gentle, and magnetic. Which is why I think she should be the next Bachelorette. Having had some time to heal and re-evaluate, she can approach this situation knowing that she is so amazing and that she will be OK. She will survive, and be better off for having gone through this. Blessings to Moana, and to Travis and Sarah, because they each just had to follow their own hearts.

  • John

Why Sarah and not Moana? because he didn’t have the balls to take a chance on the woman he truly loved. Sarah will make a great wife, and maybe even a decent lover. But there will be no mystery. He’ll come home every day and she’ll be smiling, with dinner on the table, and she’ll probably even give him a fresh rose every day for the rest of her life….. boring. need some spice. a little mystery is never bad. Unfortunately he will not last with Sarah, because his desires will keep him wondering …. “what if…” and the only way to break that will be to completely remove himself from any reminders of the experience of Bachelor… and maybe move to say, the rockies, or somewhere in the smokie mountains…..

  • ck

Good for Sarah… As for Moana, there is a difference between being “deep” and emotionally unstable.

  • Maria

I was crushed to see that Travis did not pick Moana. It appeared that he was way more smitten with her than with Sarah. Sarah is sweet and wholesome but the truth is, she is quite boring. What a disappointment. That’s ok. Moana will find someone better who has the guts to pick the right girl.
