Steel Cage: Gina Gershon, Ving Rhames, Erika Christensen

Categories: Television

94122__gershon_l_1What’s all that noise? The wild cheering? The clanging of metal? Why, yes, it’s time for the PopWatch Steel Cage, where today we’ll feature a showdown among three big-screen actors who’ve signed on for roles in fall TV pilots. Only one can survive, so weigh in for your favorite in the comments section below.

-Smokin’ hottie Gina Gershon (Bound, pictured) has signed up for the NBC pilot Lipstick Jungle, a dramedy about three (presumably sexy) Manhattan businesswomen.

-Erika Christensen (Swimfan, Flightplan) has come aboard ABC’s soap opera Six Degrees, about the tangled lives of unconnected Manhattanites, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

-Ving Rhames is now attached to the CW’s Aquaman pilot, where he’ll portray the superhero’s mentor, McCaffery.

Which are you most excited to see? (Click the jump for Mike’s answer…)

Personally, I’m most excited about seeing Gershon in a weekly series (only because I’ve erased Snoops from my memory). Still, if Christensen manages to holler ”You love me I know it!” at any point in the Six Degrees pilot, I could easily be swayed to her series.

Gina on Lipstick Jungle? I’m kinda excited but at the same time a little worried. I read the book, think it will be a good show to replace the hum-drum Desperate Housewives. Gina Gershon is fab-ew-loso but I don’t see her as a good co-worker; she’s got DIVA written all over her face. Oh well, lets hope they get some no names to fill in the rest of the cast.

Gershon in Lipstick Jungle (new title please!). As long as they play to Gina’s strengths it should be a success. Gina Gershon is best as a sexy, power-hungry, charming(to men) bitch(to women). Having her play sympathetic, or ditzy, or yearning for love, etc – will be a waste.

defin anything aquaman related. but i prefer gina gershon as an actress.

  • Liza

None of them! they all sound bad

  • James

Gina Gershon will always make me tune in.

I can’t get excited about Gina Gershon, sorry. I still have nightmares about Showgirls. I think that 6 Degrees sounds promising – love Erika Christensen! I’ll see who else is in it and probably check it out.

Six Degrees and Lipstick Jungle sound exactly the same, so they should just combine them and call it… Six Degrees in the Lipstick Jungle. or Lipstick by Degrees. or Six Lipsticks.
However, by default. I’m gonna have to say I’ll watch Aquaman. If I’m gonna watch three shows that are going to get cancelled anyway, I’ll watch the ones I’ll enjoy the most.

How funny that Gina Gershon has the biggest mouth in Hollywood (literally, not figuratively) and they want her in a show called Lipstick Jungle.
There’s not enough lipstick in the jungle for that mouth! hahaha I’m so hilarious.

If Lipstick Jungle is anything like Bound, I’m already setting my Tivo to record it.

If “Lipstick Jungle” is anything like “Snoops”…then i’ll pass…though she is hott with two t’s. I’ll go with the Aquaman project…not because i’m a big fan of Aquaman, but I AM a huge fan of Ving Rhames…he’s the man! Makes anything he’s in more interesting

Poor Ving Rames! What happened to Kojak?

  • Kath

I’m still waiting for info on Constantine Maroulis’s sitcom. I wouldn’t watch anything with Gina Gershon. Ving Rhames – maybe.

  • Cole

I think all will be garbage. Not much on TV these days that’s worth watching. Very, very sad.

  • Bruno

Will they be getting Carly Pope from Popular to play her younger sister?

I am reading “Lipstick Jungle” if the producers can adapt the book into a reasonable script, I think I’ll be an outstanding series. It’s not as shallow as Bushnell’s book “sex and the City” it’s quite different because isn’t all about sex or relationships it’s about powerful women whom can’t balance their careers with their families also it talks about all the stunts women have to pass to get a power position into the bussiness world…
I hope it’ll be great. But I agree on you about there’s nothing interesting on tv nowadays… Except “Desperate Housewives” and “Commander in Chief”.
