Apparently, Survivor no longer holds exclusive title as TV’s Official Desert-Island Weight-Loss Program. Jorge Garcia, who plays lovable big-guy Hurley on ABC’s Lost, tells Maxim magazine’s March issue that he’s lost 30 pounds — a fact that may help silence critics who’ve kvetched that his lottery-winning character’s waist hasn’t shrunk despite the limited menu options available to the survivors of Oceanic flight 815. "I can afford to not live on rum and burritos and take better care of myself," said Garcia. Not that there’s anything wrong with rum and burritos, of course.

Well that’s because of all the ranch dressing!
This is what I don’t get, why is everyone focused on his fatness/losing weight? I know that he is the biggest one but if people expect him to become a twig sometime soon to be believable, then kate,clair and Sun should be nicole ritchie by now not to even mention the guys.
Good for him! Really, gradually weight loss is the most realistic thing for Hurley. After all, they’ve only been on the island for less than two months! People who complain that he hasn’t lost enough weight oughta’ remember that.
I find people’s complaints about his weight very interesting. True, one would think he should be slender by now. However, you have to remember that they’ve only been on the island for a couple of months (based on the forty-two days episode with the “tailies”)…even with a new diet, it takes time for someone of Hurley’s size to start to shrink – I know that from experience. It makes sense that he would just be showing the weight loss now (or in the next couple of weeks).

It makes sense that Hurley hasn’t lost weight. After all, he has been hoarding chips & candy. In real life, I’d like to see him get fit. He’s a good looking guy and if he’s as sweet & cool in real life as the Hurley character, then I think he should also be healthy.
