'Joey' Death Watch: Not a good sign...

Categories: Television

163452__andrea_lIf you’re one of those Friends loyalists who’s eagerly awaiting for Joey to return from hiatus and land somewhere, anywhere on NBC’s schedule, you’d better sit down. Those Season 3 storylines you’ve been daydreaming about: probably not gonna happen. As if NBC’s decision to schedule the vapid Three Kings in Joey’s time slot wasn’t a bad enough sign, now Andrea Anders, who plays Joey’s neighbor Alex, has decamped to CBS’ sitcom pilot The Class. Which seems to be a strong sign that she’s not expecting any paychecks from the producers of Matt LeBlanc’s struggling vehicle come this fall. Oh, Zach, we hardly knew ye!

Joey was starting to get good this year and it’s certainly better that Four Kings and now this. It’s a shame – especially given the pedigree of its cast – that they couldn’t make Joey work.

About time they did away with that show. Joey was the least funniest of the Friends characters. Now if the show had been about Chandler (minus Monica)…

Joey was a great show, I loved watching it! When I wasnt home, the VCR taped it so we could watch it later! The cast was just great together, too often they dismiss the great ones and keep the others just because they have more in the cast with bigger names. Sad just Sad!!!

Like most people I had high expectations of Joey. The debut season didn’t disappoint, however, I realized later on that I wasn’t counting down the days for the new season.

Most of the characters on friends had one joke personalities, what made the show work was that there were six of them, putting the focus on just one may work on a per-episode baseses but you cant bank an entire series on one of them. Even friends wasnt that good the last two or three seasons and that is because the characters had worn their welcome. Let this show die and move scrubs to thursday, and if a quality replacement can be found for four kings (which I havent seen, basing that on the other talkbacks) thursday can be turned into a comedy powerhouse again for NBC (with my name is earl and the office already being relocated there)

    Isn’t it Four Kings?

    3 seasons too long…..joey sucks

Kudos to Maria for pointing out the typo. Three Kings is that holiday Puerto Ricans Celebrate in January. You leave some grass under your bed (for the camels the three kings ride on), and the 3 kings leave you toys.
Then, as you get older, if you leave some toys under your bed, the camels hook you up with some choice grass.
Four Kings, on the other hand, is that lackluster sitcom about four guys who live in Manhattan and…yawn..do stuff.

Oh forgot to give some props to SKE for the great idea. NBC should put Scrubs on Thursday.

I’d feel a lot worse about this if the show didn’t SUCK. Joey was a great character until the writers on Friends made him dumber than a post (go back to early Friends episodes – he wasn’t bright, but he had street smarts), and the writers on the solo series gave him NOTHIN’.
Three Kings was the Desert Storm war movie with George Clooney. Four Kings is a really formulaic sitcom with Seth Green. That’s how you tell the difference.

This totally sucks, Joey (although not in the same league as Friends) is 10 times better than that piece of crap Four Kings. I’ll admit that the 1st season of Joey was pretty rocky, but the 2nd season has been great and I loved the sexual tension between Joey and Alex. Plus, the scenes involving Joey on the movie set have been hilarious! There is total shortage of good sitcoms out there (HIMYM is the only one besides Joey that I watch) and killing Joey just as it was getting good is another horrible mistake by NBC. Enjoy being in 3rd place for the next decade, you NBC morons!

Four Kings AND Joey are both enjoyable shows, so lay off the insults! NBC is now the king of comedy shows in my opinion, and should stay that way. CBS is all about reality tv, FOX is cheeseball, edge of your seat entertainment, ABC is sophisticated television (Lost, Desperate Housewives, Dancing with the Stars), and UPN and the WB are the young crowds channels.
