Richard Hatch: My 'Survivor' castmates cheated

If nothing else, you have to give Richard Hatch credit for a sense of timing and drama. According to the Associated Press, at his tax evasion trial on Friday, the inaugural Survivor winner’s lawyer said that CBS agreed to pay the taxes on his winnings after he threatened to expose his discovery that other contestants had allegedly cheated by smuggling food. CBS and producer Mark Burnett have not commented, but two of Hatch’s fellow castaways, Rudy Boesch and Dr. Sean Kenniff, both told TMZ.com that they never saw any cheating and doubted that contestants could have had friends smuggle food onto the island. However, a Survivor cameraman and an unnamed first-season castaway corroborated Hatch’s story, telling TMZ that some contestants did sneak in some candy and Power Bars.

Could Hatch’s allegations have merit? Or is he playing the court the way he played the game? Do you have faith in the show’s integrity, or do you think Survivor has been cutting corners for the sake of drama?

Who cares at this point. He won in the end so why is he upset. This so old. What survivor are we on now.

Whether it’s true or not, it doesn’t explain why he didn’t pay taxes on the income he earned from radio programs and other sources that are also apart of the charges against him. In any case, I can’t imagine CBS agreeing to pay the taxes on his winnings and, more likely, this is just another tactic to get out trouble with the IRS.

Richard Hatch is just upset cause his 15 minutes of fame are waaay up! If he was so bothered by people cheating in season 1, why did he go to the All-Star edition?

When they handed him a check for a million dollars, it should have been clear to him that taxes had not been paid. He should have questioned CBS about it or paid the friggin taxes, this man owned a business before Survivor, I’m sure he understood what he was doing.
People have smuggled food on before, one season a granola bar was discovered, I think if someone smuggled in food, we would have seen it on the show.

I don’t think a couple of candy bars gives anyone a major advantage.

Richard Hatch can’t stay out of trouble. Whether it is his son or his money, he has proven that he is an irresponsible, abusive man who believes that the rules don’t apply to him. Where is he living now, a sandbox? That could be the only explanation for his “Well, what i did isn’t half as bad as what they did!” tactics.

Regardless of there being candy or not on Borneo, the fact still comes down that Hatch evaded taxes. How’s he going to explain the personal charges against his charity? The guy is a con artist, and if he’s proven guilty, deserves to go away for a while.
And wasn’t there an ugly rumor about Survivor: All Stars about someone (possibly Hatch) having waterproof matches hidden in his…person?

Give it up Richard. Nothing can take the spotlight off the fact you’re more than likely going to be deservedly locked away for tax evasion.

Richard is ridiculous. He got caught and now he’s trying to excuse it with this fairy tale. I won a prize and had to pay taxes on it. I hope he gets jail time.

Hey, Richard: Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blahblahblah blah blah blah blahblah blah. Blah.
    Why are you STILL talking???

  • Bobby

This guy is such a putz. Please make him go away forever.

Hey Richard, were you a tattle tale as a youngster? You got the money, you knew you had to pay taxes, what’s your point?
