'Project Runway': Bye-bye, Dirty Diana

Tagged:

Three thoughts about Wednesday’s riveting episode of Project Runway (Sorry this wasn’t up yesterday; PopWatch’s resident Runway addict Tim Gunatilaka is on vacation this week):

-Am I the only person who would leap at the chance to buy a Nick doll? Seriously, he might actually be the cutest person on the planet.

-Wasn’t it kind of refreshing to see someone other than scary-haired Santino or Nick win the week’s challenge? And on the same note, don’t you get the feeling that Chloe (who almost disappeared standing next to gigantor Emmett) is a much bigger threat to win the whole competition than Santino would like to believe?

-Even though Marla and Diana deserved to get sent packing, I still think the latter is awfully talented. So much so, in fact, that I might have to buy one of the ‘Fashion Nerd’ buttons she’s selling on her official website. C’mon, you’ve got to admit — they’re kinda awesome.

Anyhow, what did you think of the episode? And who’s your pick to get the boot next week?

i can’t you ;eft out the episodes greatest quote!! from zulema (who is a nasty person) if you’re gonna cry, you better cry and cut, cry and cut!” that’s genius. oh and how about santinos diss to mr kors!! i was laughing like crazy. oh how about when nick was trying to explain their design to the judges and santino was giving him the evil eye. nick looked scared.
i think chloe is good but she doesn’t blow me away. i think the dark horse is emmet. he has been in the business for a long time and and he gets it. santino, was a fan of his in the beginning, but to be honest his stuff looks the same every week.

I liked Diana, but I was sick of her work; it was too high-concept, and not in a good way. Can you imagine just how awful that garment would have looked if she’d done the original skirt? As for Marla: she should have been gone after last week, I won’t miss her at all.
The only reason I was praying for Santino not to get cut this week (I cannot stomach that man) was that he would have taken darling Nick along with him. So far, I think Nick and Chloe are locks for the top three. I think the judges are quickly getting over Santino.
Speaking of which, where did he get the balls to question Michael Kors’ popularity? Word of advice, Santino: do not insult the people who hold your fate in their hands.

I cannot get over how good this show is. It is just fantastic!
I think Santino and Nick know that they are in the thick of it with Chloe. I just think the producers are trying to create some suspense. They are clearly the top 3.
I feel so bad that Diana got stuck with Marla. God, that woman was just the worst.
I hope Zulema goes next, she is so boring.
Can you get them to do a TV Watch on this show? It totally deserves it.

Diana’s very, young and that is reflected in her designs. She’s all theory and gimmick. But give her a couple of years of practical experience – and I think she’ll be a great designer! Plus I thought she was fun to watch and totally different from any other contestant.

Santino’s reckless design and crazy personality will help him in the real world, look at the Nicki Hilton Challenge. I do think he will get axed before the final three (giving a death stare to the judges). I didn’t like Andrae’s attitude in the first few episodes, but his strong showing along with Daniel V bring them to the forefront of the pack. Kara’s break downs concern me and Zulema is… not evil, but I don’t certainly want to be friends with her. Other than that I think the eliminations are going to get much harder from now on. I stated before on Pop Watch Diana, Marla, and Guadalupe would be the next to go, now it hard to foresee. Looking back to the first challenge I hold on to my initial impressions of each designer.
    My pick for final three:
    Chloe
    Emmett
    Nick
Andrae and Daniel V. are definite contenders, but I have a soft spot for Emmett.
    Memoriam for Dirty Diana:
I loved her personality and I thought her designs were creative. I am sure she will have a good career in fashion, maybe not as a top couture designer, but her talent will be honed by years of experience.

My picks for final three – Nick, Chloe, and Daniel V. Santino is going DOWN! And yes, Nick is the cutest person in the world.

I think people underestimate Daniel V. Does anyone have a feeling who really came up with his and Andrae’s winning design? If it were based on talent, I’d go with Chloe, Nick and Daniel V in the final 3. Because they need characters at the end of the show, I wouldn’t be surprised if Santino sticks around till the final 3, nudging out Daniel V.
Kara or Andrae will be next.

I (heart) Daniel V. Or just Daniel now that Daniel Franco is gone.

This episode for me was a little depressing to watch because once I saw how the teams were paired up and I found out both team members would be out, I knew Diana was going home. I mean Chloe is great, so her team was safe, Daniel V is emerging as a formidable designer and his dress was arguably the best, they spent too much time on the Kara-Zulema fiasco for them to end up going home (like they did last week with Marla) and as hideous as Santino’s outfit was, there is no way at this point they’d send both him and Nick home. That left Diana-Marla to be the ones out. Granted their dress was rather dull, but I think the outcome would have been different if this had been an individual challenge.
By the way, did I miss it or did they not announce who had the lowest scores from the Banana Republic shoppers? Even though the judges picked Diana-Marla to go home, that doesn’t meant they had the lowest votes from the shoppers. I’m just curious.
At this point, with Diana gone, I’d like to see Chloe, Nick and Daniel in the final three.

Santino should buy Nick a nice present, because the ONLY reason he didn’t get bumped this week is that no one wanted to send Nick home. The judges have clearly had it with Santino and want him gone. Same thing with Zulema and Kara; Zulema may be arrogant, but she saved Kara’s butt. Marla deserved to go home just because of that horrible outfit she wore on the runway. Now that Andrae has calmed down (thank the lord), he is really surprising me. I loved his Nicky Hilton, and he did really well this week too.
I would buy the Nick doll.

IT’S ABOUT TIME THIS WAS POSTED!!!! I waited all day yesterday (ok, so I am lame – I don’t care and neither should you). So, my theory – when the producers saw that Diana and Marla were on the same team they decided to do the double elimination to get rid of both of them. Think about it – they didn’t announce the double elimination until AFTER the teams were formed. Anyhow, I agree that Nick is the cutest person on television right now and forget the doll – I just want to take him home – he is just too adoreable. I H-A-T-E Santino and I get the feeling that the judges are over him as well. My hope is that the final 3 are Chloe, Nick and Daniel (his dress for that Hilton chick was AWESOME) with Nick taking the win.

Well I like Nick so I wouldn’t mind if he won many challenges. He’s only won once.

  • Oren

Marla deserved to get kicked off. I liked Diana, but sometimes you’ve gotta crack a few eggs…
I despise Santino and the only reason I didn’t want him kicked off is because I didn’t want Nick gone. I hate hate hate Santino, but I love Nick. He’s so talented and cute.
I would buy a Nick doll.

IF you haven’t already been listening to Tim Gunn’s podcast you are missing some good behind the scenes info on the show. IT’s on Bravotv.com ….like the show down between Santino and his lingeries …Tim said it went on for 90 minutes and was alot uglier. Santino just won’t listen to critisim.

    My faves:
Daniel V. – quickly rising to the top; besides he was sweet to kiss Kara and give her support when she needed it; the anti-Santino, in a good way
Chloe – quiet, nice, talented; she will be in the top every week even though she may not win it all
Nick – I like his work, but if he had not been so reticent to approach Chloe, he would not have ended up with evil Santino
Diana – goodbye, you sweet sweet nerd. A little more experience and maturity will help
Emmett – a dark horse, quiet
Kara – won’t win, but has some nice designs
Andrae – some good stuff, but an emotional mess; Daniel seemed to bring out the best in him though
Zuleima – thinks a bit much of herself, but she does have some talent and ambition
Marla – just not cut out for it
Santino – the JR Ewing of Project Runway; I find his designs to be a bit much and way overdesigned (simplicity, Santino – less is more!), but he is evil and keeps things interesting. After all, it wouldn’t be nearly as much fun with three nice people in finals. You need a Wendy Pepper to root against.
