If there’s one thing I love about the ’80s dance-rock revival, it’s discovering bands like Burnside Project. Instead of turning out a generic piece off hipster fluff (I won’t name names), it’s obvious they did their homework, mixing the best parts of Book of Love, New Order, and The Cure with their own signature sound to create The Finest Example is You. It’s an apt title, since their songs are great examples of where indie rock should be headed. Check out ”And So It Goes” — it’s just perfect.

ASIG is a cute little tune but perfect? Nah. Perfect is a word I would reserve for “Black History Month” by Death From Above 1979. Hands down the best song of 2005. If you don’t know it, find it.
All these “hipster fluff” 80′s pastiche bands must be interesting to youngsters who didn’t live through the 80′s, but for people who came of age in that decade majority of these songs and bands come off as poor reproductions. It’s an OK song.
Hands up or down Black History Month is not the best song of any year, MJF. Death From Above is not that original to begin with.
