Was NBC right not to air Pamela's pole dance?

163327__pa_lCover Timmy’s eyes, people.

No, seriously, cover them.

Remember last week when NBC deemed part of Elton John’s concert special, The Red Piano, too hot for broadcast? (You know, the segment featuring a giant video of Pamela Anderson pole-dancing to ”The Bitch Is Back”?) Well, the footage (warning: video contains nudity) has made its inevitable way to the Web. And while I can’t argue the (ahem) pneumatic star of Stacked is thisclose to nekkid, I also can’t say I was particularly shocked by her display. I mean, it’s Pamela Anderson. This is what she does. And you’ve got to admit, the David LaChapelle-directed cleavage-fest is a lot more artful than Paris Hilton’s gag sandwich of an ad for Carl’s Jr. Still, we’re left with a larger question, PopWatchers: Do you think NBC did the right thing by deciding to leave Pam’s terpsichorean skillz on the editing-room floor? Holla back!

To answer the title question: Yes, I think so. Hey, there’s nothing wrong with Pamela pole dancing (in fact, I believe some Popwatchers of the male persuasion are likely to point out that there is a lot right with it), but a primetime network special just isn’t the place. Besides, they have to have some reason to get people to buy the DVD.

The show was recorded in Las Vegas. Nudity and all that sexy stuff is no big deal there because its everywhere.

I don’t see why it is that big of a deal. I mean, honestly, how many little kids are going to be watching an Elton John concert on television? And if parents are really concerned, they can change the channel.

I actually asked the same question when I seen it. Here in Ontario the Canadian channel I watched the special on did not cut the dancing or the song out of the special. I ahve seen the show live in Vegas and enjoyed it but did wonder if it was a bit risque for the 8pm time slot. I said to my girlfriend when we watched it that it would create a stir. Had no idea it would create this much stir whithout even being seen.

I would have loved to see Pam Anderson slide up and down that pole. Too bad the blue noses at the network wouldn’t less us see it.
