Michelle Williams won't go back to 'Dawson's Creek'

15550__mw_lIn my imagination, I see James Van Der Beek shedding a single tear. Like that Indian guy on the littering commercial.

That’s because Michelle Williams, his former Dawson’s Creek costar, is all but disavowing her six-season — six! — tenure as vampy Jen Lindley on the WB teen soap. After nabbing a deserved Best Supporting Actress Golden Globe nomination for her quietly powerful performance in Brokeback Mountain this week, she used precious column inches in both USA Today and the Los Angeles Times to dis the days of Capeside yore.

On selecting movie roles, she told the Times: "Being on a show like Dawson’s Creek for so long … you spend so much of the year doing something you are not entirely invested in. So when you devote yourself to nine months of the year to that kind of work, you have to make awfully certain that you spend the three precious months off in a way that’s true and not time-wasting." Ouch. What would Pacey say?

To be fair, Williams has some love left for Dawson and Co. "When I do reflect on it, it’s fondly," she says. "It’s just not often," she told USA Today. Embrace the Creek, Jen — er, Michelle. It was good to you, and you were good for it. And the producers liked you enough to wait until the last episode to kill you. In TV land, that’s as close to true love as you’re going to find.

(I don’t want to wait… for our lives to be over. I want to know right now; what will it be?)

Mickey, I hope you’re happy–I can’t get the Paula Cole song out of my head now!!! I’m been humming it all afternoon. I just thank heavens that Michelle Williams hasn’t gone the crazy way of Katie Holmes.

i’m ecstatic for Michelle. I also was a huge fan of the first three seasons of Dawson’s creek, after that I stopped watching, so I could see how an actor could get bored playing that year in and year out… But that time does let her be brilliant in films… and for that she should be thankful. Brilliant Performance by the way! She deserves the oscar for brokeback, heartbreaking…

Did anyone ever notice the sarcasm in her performance during her death bed scene of The Dawsons Creek Series Finale. Check it out. I laughed.

Fair enough. Dawson’s Creek did become so dreary in the last few years that you can’t blame her for saying that. I loved her in the final episode with her attitude to death. Love you Michelle and kudos for speaking your mind.

Everything she has she owes to that show. Yes, it was rubbish towards the end, but actors often forget where they came from and think that the show’s success was down to them. Clearly, a tv show and a film are dependent on the writers, not the actors. Otherwise the show would have been as good for the entire series.
I think when she is older she will have the grace to remember that.

Dawson’s Creek was amazing while it lasted it showed the true aspects of teenage lives, through problems and experiences that we face. Also the important decisions we have to make that will decide the life we are going to lead.
Durring Dawson’s Creek the actors have been given charater names that people will always refer them to, it is important that they relise that and hopefully if the occasion rises they will full fill another serise if possible. I know that it is more than likely this would not happen, but the show ment so much to the fans they would be happy if the whole cast could create a more happier ending the the Dawson’s Creek drama!
It is very recurring at the end of a serise you end up in tears of happiness or sadness or even both.

Michelle is still too close to the series to truly appreciate how good it was for her. It was obvious in the later years that none of the stars were as devoted to the series as they had been in the beginning. Although the show was extremely good to her and she made Jen Lindley an icon, Michelle’s loyalty to Jen is lacking. Someday she’ll look back and realize what DC really meant to her and her career. She’ll realize that everything she has comes from the amazing performance she gave those first five years (i truly believe that Michelle’s performace remained fantastic til her dying breath of sarcasm in the finale).
After all, television makes stars, stars don’t make television. (just ask Jennifer Aniston, Robin Williams, George Clooney, The Olsen Twins, Katie Holmes, Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler…)

I loved Dawson’s Creek. Missed a lot of it. My dad would come home from work n turn it… I watched it as an adult when it was on tbs and I watched every single one, religiously…. And I slept in on the day they played The FINALE!!! I have never seen it. I love Katie. I am so happy for her and Tom about the baby. Michelle was always so great on the show. I didn’t like her at first cuz she was so sugary and Dawson saw supposed to be with Joey!!! LOL I was 16. I ove her now and congrats to her and Heath on their lovely bundle too!!! Way to be brave, go against the grain and speak ur true feelings, Michelle!!! That’s why we all got to love Jen n why we continue to love u as u truly are.

Michelle is awsome. I love her attitude in this piece. She acknowledges Dawson’s— but not too much!

John Wesley Shipp, Dawson’s dad, is in a new movie “Karma Police”! Here’s the link: http://www.karmapolicemovie.com/
I loved him in DC so I’m really excited to see him in this!

  • Gordana

I love Dawson’s Creek but from a writing point of view, why did the writers get to the much awaited coupling of Dawson and Joey and keep breaking them up so fast (like half an hour later together they split) they should have written more episodes of them together so the fans could understand their dynamic better.. afterall that’s why they’re watching the show. the will they , won’t they. they were supposed to be ‘star crossed lovers’ (remember season 1?)

  • Gordana

love the show but the writers should have made more episodes with Joey and Dawson together, after all that’s why the fans are tuning in

  • Heath Never Loved Michelle

The director for Brokeback Mountain never knew
Michelle was from Dawson’s Creek. He said he
would not have chosen her for the part of elma if
he knew. She will never be as beautiful or talented
like the actress Diane Lane or Sharon Stone.
Heath Ledger would never have become stuck with
Michelle if she did not lie to get that role in
Brokeback Mountain. ANYONE could have played
the part of elma. Why did she get nominated.
I do not understand that. Heath Ledger was the
star not Michelle. No one would pay any attention
to Michelle Williams today if she were not in Brokeback Mountain. Most importantly she would
not have met Heath ledger or had his child.
Her amount of fame has only been what it is
because of Heath Ledger. She definitely trapped
Heath Ledger after getting pregnant 2 to 3 months
after she first met him to start filming Brokeback
