Cross your fingers, Arrested Development fans. I know, you’re as sick as I am of hearing rumors of the show’s rescue go nowhere. But Variety is reporting that both ABC and Showtime are serious about picking up the show should Fox abandon it. No one’s talking on the record yet, and there are a lot of obstacles to a deal with either outlet. Still, ABC is flush with success on the drama front and needs only a good half-hour sitcom to complete its comeback, while Showtime is also bullish these days on quirky comedies, having decided just yesterday to order a second season of multiple Golden Globe nominee Weeds.
So don’t start dancing to ”Mr. Roboto” just yet, but if you feel euphoric enough to turn up Styx on the car radio, be my guest.

Please please please please please please, Santa, save A.D. I’ve been good all year!
Sink this ship already! Puh-leeze.
ABC? Seriously? That would be great! Actually, any place would be great as long as it goes on.
fingers will be crossed for as long as it takes!
With ABC’s track record in cancelling great comedies (Sports Night and the Job anyone); I’d rather Showtime pick AD up. It would give Showtime the buzz they’ve never had and it might help them attract other great producers, giving them a chance to really challenge HBO with original programming. I’d even promise to watch Huff if they pick up AD. (Now that’s me making a great sacrifice.)
Who’s Ann?
I’m hoping Showtime as well cuz it will have lower exoectations, but I also do not subscribe to it, ABC would be great because of that. Either way it will make my year if anyone picks it up!
Please please please ABC or Showtime, pick this great show up!
*crosses fingers* PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! PLEASE BE ABC! I DON’T HAVE SATTELITE OR DIGITAL CABLE!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m sure Tobias would love to have those cable actor parts coming out of his mouth.
Brewster got it right: ABC would give it one more year and then kill it. They might not have any good sitcoms on now, but they do have successful ones. I’d love to see it stay on a network, but Showtime may be a better place for it.
I’d love to see AD on ABC – just because I don’t want to pay for more cable and I’d follow the Bluths wherever they took me.
Also, I think the censoring of the narration makes it funnier – I think it would lose some of it’s umph if the obscenities were actually included.
Keep this fine show as far away from Showtime as possible. Why should that crappy little network start with quality now? And I don’t want to pay the subscription fee for ONE SINGLE SHOW. Especially to a network that makes crap lile The L Word and Sleeper Cell. And don’t even bring up ‘Weeds’.
Here’s hoping it heads to ABC! Although if it heads to Showtime, I guess I’ll give in and subscribe.
Either one is fine, though I think Showtime might give it a better run and it would be a great companion piece for Weeds.
