Who knew cult director Darren Aronofsky was a fan of the boob tube? The Requiem for a Dream helmer has just signed on to direct an episode of ABC’s Lost, which will likely air at the beginning of May sweeps. “It was one of those fantastic calls out of the blue,” says Lost exec producer Carlton Cuse. “His agents let us know he liked the show, and we jumped at the opportunity. Apparently, he had been watching Lost while up in Montreal shooting The Fountain and got hooked.” Speaking of which, won’t this interfere with completing Fountain, the director’s six years-in-the-making sci-fi epic starring fiancée Rachel Weisz and Hugh Jackman? “I think he will be done,” speculates Cuse. “We scheduled it so that [the episode] is coming on the heels of finishing The Fountain. And we will try to put together a story that will be well-suited for Darren’s talents and visual imagination.”

Aronofsky is one of our generations genius directors. Lost is cool. they better actually have a story for him though.
this is awesome.. given how good the little surreal bit we got at the start of Everyboy Hates Hugo was, imagine what Aronofsky could do!!
This show is consistently amazing on all fronts, and I’m sure Darren will do an amazing job as well. And while we’re all salivating, let’s imagine future eps helmed by Quentin and Joss, and maybe if we hope and wish hard enough, it will come true…
http://www.thetailsection.com has a bunch of info about this show. Lots of hires screen caps too…
Of course they will have a good story for him. Its May sweeps, so all those eps will have great storylines either way.
But I wouldnt be surprised if they tried to give him a really good one, as the whole eye-opening thing seems like an homage to reqiuem for a dream. Im sure theyre fans (who isnt?), so they will do him justice.
I mean look at tarantino and CSI.

I find myself oddly comforted by the news that Darren Arronofsky is going to direct an episode of Lost….
They have more information on the episode here: http://www.lowculture.com/archives/2005/10/the_eyes_have_i_1.html
We like the show, but it is filmed to dark (we can’t see). Also would like continuing story.NOT RERUNS!!! We are thinking of finding something else to watch weekly.

Hip Hop montages in Lost…. it will be amazing…suspenseful, even scary…. he is going to do visually amazing things to Lost…
Kudos..!
and he’s from Brooklyn!
Sounds cool. I’d love to see Chris Nolan or Spielberg do an episode. And EW should do a Nolan vs Aronofsky feature in their mag. Both directors have different styles but similar beginnings. Might be interesting.
