Quote of the Day (Divas Edition)

94523__paris_lAh, music divas. They can’t all be Aretha Franklin, now, can they? But that doesn’t mean they can’t deliver (or inspire) the most amusing of quotes. Here’s four for your perusal:

A) ”It will [definitely have] a lot of sexiness. If I did a [fast-food] commercial that hot, imagine what I can do with my own video.”
Paris Hilton (left), discussing plans for her first music video

B) ”Do you think [critics] would let me get away with that? I did that last time, it didn’t work.”
Guy Ritchie on why he didn’t cast wife Madonna in his latest flick, Revolver

C) ”Judging by this, Simpson’s sophomore slump is looking like a free fall.”
–Billboard magazine reviewer Chuck Taylor, on Ashlee Simpson’s new single, ”Boyfriend”

D) ”It was cool to actually feel like you’re making music, and then to have the album be No. 1 for two weeks in a row, and to see so many fans go out and buy it, I feel very supported and lucky."
Hilary Duff, discussing new tracks on her Most Wanted greatest hits collection

I’m going to reluctantly cast my vote for Paris’ remarks (A); I’m not sure I actually want to hear her sing, or watch her writhe around on screen, but it’ll be interesting to see how far she’ll go in an effort to outskank her pop-chart rivals. Hilary’s a close runner-up; there’s something amusing about the way she unintentionally frames her previous musical efforts as somehow not making actual music. But don’t let me have the last word — weigh in with your pick for the quote of the day now!

Definitely D. Robot Hillary sounds like she is reading from cue cards. It reminded me of Bull Durham when Crash Davis teaches Nuke Laloosh his cliches. Only nuke didn’t sound quite so idiotic when he recited them.

    Forget Paris!

I would give Hilary a break, she probably didn’t have any say whatsoever in the music she produced before, so, regardless of your feelings about her singing, I think she can be proud she was able to write and help produce her new songs.
Paris, on the otherhand, needs to get over the notion that she is “hot” and I don’t think she could get undressed enough to save her fledgling “singing” career. Her vocals on “Screwed” sounds like a someone choking a duck.

Paris needs to go away already. She’s not hot, not interesting, simply not worth the attention. Why does Hilary still have a singing career? Can anyone name even one hit song? Anyone? I can’t. We need to stop these talentless blonde bimbos from singing ever again.

I gotta go for a. It’s really amazing how skanky pop starlets have gone since the days of Mariah Carey and Christinia Aguilera (remember when they were controversial? Their stuff seems so tame when compared to Paris Hilton).
However, special mention goes to Guy Ritchie, who has the nerve to blame his lackluster remake on Madonna. She may be the queen of bad movies, let’s face it, that movie was so bad it would have ruined someone’s career if he had cast anyone else. Note to Guy Ritchie: Stick to what you know best. Movies about gangsters in London who don’t know any women.

So confused. Hillary Duff has a greatest hits collection? What is up with these young singers putting out compilations after like 2 albums? That’s bs, they just want to make more and more money, throw in 2 new songs, and the public just eats it up. Your singing career has barely blossomed, and you can’t come up with 12 new songs for a whole cd, are you that talentless? Do you have nothing else to sing about? I also hate how established artists like bob marley and elvis have 20 greatests hits albums with repeats of the same bunch of songs. And the music industry complains that they’re not making money.

I’m going to pick C just ’cause the man speaks the truth!

I don’t know why all the hate on Hilary Duff all of a sudden. Yes, she released a “greatest hits” album, but it mostly contained new songs, remixed songs, and other songs only previously available on soundtracks–and she did this to fulfill her record deal. The fact is, she co-wrote the 3 new songs on the album and the album was the #1 record in american for 2 weeks and has already gone gold. So in a sense, she is actually making music for the 1st time b/c she had control over the creative process.
Good for Hilary, boo to people that hate her b/c she’s rich and famous. I would much rather see her get press than no-talent wannabe’s like Paris Hilton.

im sorry but paris hilton is just plain nasty and dumb as a rock!!!!!!!!!!!!!! No one would want to eat anything from her fast food commercial. She is not even really pretty i dont see it really i dont what is soo special about her??? Money wow alot of people have that, looks i have seen better, personality is that even a question??

Hilary Duff is a bad singer.

Mr Jones, we don’t hate Hilary because she’s rich and famous. We hate her because she has no talent to speak of, yet gets these deals to make lousy records and movies. Whereas there are actors or singers out there with much more talent but can’t get a break. She simply got lucky. She may be famous now, but will anyone remember her in 5, 10, 20 years? I doubt it.

Please, stop giving Paris Hilton all this coverage. She and her sister are sickening! I am tired of seeing their faces on almost every magazine or newspaper. This is definitely over-kill, and over exposure. They are media hogs.

Happy Birthday Madonna. You are the best.
