No Chicago,Doobie Brothers,Moody Blues..not to mention a whole slew of great Black Artist! Oh yeah but you have Metallica, U2 and REM in! LOL! This is what happens when you let Mullets and NASCAR in charge. Somebody more credible should take over like the Smithsonian Institute.
I know the Rock’n'roll Hall of Fame’s board has made a few bad decisions regarding inductees, such as Madonna (she’s not even rock’n'roll), but there are better candidates. I think The Sonics, Gun Club, The Cramps, Billy Childish, The Monks, Link Wray, Dick Dale, MC5 and GG Allin are much superior candidates.
GG Allin tried to bring the danger and rebellion back to rock’n'roll, which is now missing.
Until Chicago is in the RRHOF it will be the Rock and Roll Hall of Shame. There are others like Lynrd Skynrd and the Doobie Brothers that also should have been in years ago, but the music industry is about show and not substance. It isn’t about the music anymore, but about what I’m really not sure
The Country Music Hall of Fame, on its 40th anniversary in 2001, waived an election and inducted everybody who had been previously nominated and passed over at least twice. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, for its 25th anniversary in 2011, needs to do the same–induct everybody (yes, everybody!!) that has been nominated and passed over at least three times. This would “clean house” as far as the ballot is concerned. Too many artists and nonperformers (e.g. The Moody Blues, Linda Ronstadt, Neil Diamond, Wolfman Jack, Brian Epstein, Chicago, The Hollies, Hall and Oates, to name just a few) have knocking on the door for too long. It’s time to let them in!!
