Prison is hot these days on TV (see Fox’s Prison Break, or Martha Stewart’s frequent references on Martha of her recent stint behind bars). Who’s better poised to capitalize on that trend than Lil’ Kim? Reality cameras are filming her around the clock before her year-long incarceration on federal perjury and conspiracy charges begins on Monday.
Produced by Tracey Edmonds (a.k.a. Mrs. Babyface), the resulting series will tentatively be titled Lil’ Kim Goes to the Big House. Edmonds, who’s also the producer behind Showtime’s Soul Food, tells Variety that five networks are interested. Props to Kim for her entrepreneurial spirit, but I bet a reality series showing her experiences during her sentence would be more fascinating than a show about her 25th Hour experiences before serving time.
