Sean Combs is back with a new name this week, and though expectations were high, the results are less than scintillating. While ”Diddy” scores points for brevity and ease of pronunciation, it lacks the zippy charm of the groundbreaking ”Puff Daddy,” and fails to expound the themes of his most recent moniker, ”P. Diddy.” Achieving neither the audaciousness of Prince’s unpronounceable symbol, nor the sly mystic qualities of Madonna’s ”Madge,” Combs might just as well have called himself ”Duddy.” Maybe next time.

I”ve got a new name for him. How about ‘Has-Been?’
I use to call him “P Doody.”
I guess now it is just “Doody.”
Puffy. Got famous mooching off BIG, produced tracks that redubed someone else’s hit, then totally blew it with J.Lo. Other than making money off other people’s work, can Puff Daddy do anything right?
For all of his faults, the thing that irks me about Sean Combs is how he chooses his own nicknames. Hey Puffy: Only complete nimrods or porn stars choose their own nicknames. The #1 rule of nicknames is that you don’t get to pick your own nickname.
That said, I would go with Nettie’s nickname. Sean “has been” Combs seems pretty appropriate about now…
Diddy???? That’s what a grown man wants to be called? Puh-leeeze.
Puffy’s a good business man, I’ll give him that — but this name-changing thing is stupid. Who cares? The fact that anyone would even report someone dropping the P. from his name is kinda silly. Maybe he should let us give him a nickname. You know, call in and vote. The show can be American Idle.
like what is he even famous for? no kidding…’has been’ suits him perfectly. Go away Puffy.
I like Puddy, myself.
“Has been” isn’t cool enuf for Diddy. How about “Haz B.”? Or “H. Beane”?
