Today marks the 28th anniversary of Elvis’ disappearance from the terrestrial plane (and the start of his unofficial tour of 7-11s nationwide), yet his legacy lives on via endless pop-culture references. What’s your favorite tribute to The King? The sky-diving Elvises of Honeymoon in Vegas? Patty Loveless’s country smash ”I Try to Think About Elvis”?
My personal (and obscure) pick is Cher’s commercially overlooked video for ”Walking in Memphis.” With her finely tuned sense of camp and copious charisma, is there a more fitting artist to pay tribute to (or impersonate) Elvis?

The Best Elvis tribute, BY FAR, has to be Bruce Campbell’s take on the King in “Bubba Ho Tep”.
In the movie, Elvis and JFK (played by Ossie Davis) live in a retirement home that is being plagued by murders committed by a mummy. The concept is pretty far out, but the acting, writing, and pure love of Elvis Presley is all there.
PS. I STILL have my sideburns

I remember Cher’s ‘Walking in Memphis’ being used in an episode of the X-Files.
The “Walking in Memphis” video is paired with the sound from “Song for the Lonely”…oops, VH1!
What about “Elvis is Everywhere” from Mojo Nixon?!!! It is totally campy and a lot of fun.
