From the Hollywood Reporter comes the news that Stacey Dash (left) has landed what looks like her first major big-screen role in the decade since Clueless. In fact, she’s working with Clueless director Amy Heckerling and costar Paul Rudd in the movie, called I Could Never Be Your Woman. Alas, it’s just a supporting role for Dash; the film is a romantic comedy focusing on a couple played by Rudd and Michelle Pfeiffer.
Still, Dash shines in supporting roles; she certainly stole hearts in both the film and TV versions of Clueless, where she played teenager Dionne until well into her 30s. Hard to believe, but she’s 39 now, according to the Internet Movie Database, and harder still to believe that she’s barely been heard from since the sitcom went off the air in 1999. (Yes, there’s a bunch of TV guest spots and straight-to-video movies on her IMDb list, but not much else. And I’m not counting View From the Top, the Gwyneth Paltrow stewardess movie that even Paltrow disavowed.) Apparently, she’s also been doing some work for her cousin, Damon Dash, like modeling clothes for his Rocawear line. She also popped up in in the Kanye West video for ”All Falls Down.”
Good for Heckerling for hiring Dash again, but can’t someone give Dash the starring role she deserves in a high-profile project?

I must agree. Whenever I see Stacey Dash I enjoy her performance. I would like to see her in a successful leading role on TV or in the movies. Hopefully, her day will come.
I can’t believe she is 39 – she looks AMAZING. I hope she lands a big part soon too – she is a good actress and I have enjoyed her performances (even View From The Top).
I would say she looks amazing, but since I haven’t seen her in anything since Clueless (the movie), I can’t really say. When I first read that she was 39, I thought, wow she does look good! And then I realized, oh yeah, Clueless came out a very long time ago.
i thought damon dash was her brother. anyway, damon seemed a little too proud of staceys beauty during the kanye west video shoot but she is beautiful. i hope she gets her big break soon. girlies been in the game long enough and deserves it. she even did some time in renaissance man with danny devito, mark wahlberg and that guy from a bronx tale.
She is criminally underused. Just like Regina King (should have been oscar nominated for Jerry Mcquire and for Ray and dare I say Poetic Justice and Regina Hall.

mickey, Clueless didn’t come out THAT long ago. It came out in 1995, which was 10 years ago, which means she was 29 in that movie, playing a 15 year old. And she totally pulled it off. There are some 29 year olds that can’t pull off playing 29 year olds.
She should never have done the TV version of CLUELESS (even if it did result in her getting a regular paycheck) because, when she could have been doing movies, she was stuck doing that show. Plus the fact she was perpetually playing a teenager when she was in her thirties probably caused producers and casting people to think of her as a teenager rather than a grown woman capable of better roles. She needs to play a woman her own age and maybe this Michelle Pfeiffer movie is a step in the right direction.

hey let’s face it: if she were WHITE and looked as absolutely stunning as she does, she’d have been fighting the paparazzi off with pepper spray years ago!!! this is just the same ol’ tired story. a black woman can’t really catch a break in hollywood until the rules of the game change!!!!
