It’s official: There will be no seventh season of The Sopranos. But the upcoming sixth and final season, comprised of 12 episodes and set to debut in March 2006, is getting an extra eight episodes tacked on, and they’ll air in January 2007. (Wait a minute…that sure sounds like a seventh season to me, but since series creator David Chase is almost doubling his output, let’s not quibble, shall we?)
Of course, it’s been so long since I’ve spent time with Tony, Carmela & Co. — their last new episode aired in June 2004 — that I can barely remember where we left off. And now that I’m in the habit of spending my Sunday nights with Bree, Susan, Gabrielle, Lynette, and Edie, I may have to relegate my favorite Mob family to TiVo status.
Which series will you be watching live next March: Desperate Housewives or The Sopranos? And what would you like to see happen in The Sopranos‘ last 20 episodes? All must be revealed, people!

Personally, I’m just amazed by fans of Sopranos. If I watched a show where I had to wait almost 2 years between seasons, I would have forgotten what happened before and can’t be bothered to watch anymore. Considering Sopranos have story arcs that often carry over, makes it even tougher. But that’s just me.
Paulie Walnuts should get wacked.
For those who forgot, Adriana got wacked and young Christopher’s status in the “family” has undergone serious woes. To top it all off, federal agents arrested pretty much the entire New York crew just after Tony settled his beef with them.
First, it’s exciting to know that the show is coming back soon. The show just isn’t the same on DVD. To settle it, I would love to see if the FBI is finally able to build a real case against Tony. If they do, who will lead the organization?
As for guys getting wacked? Paulie is dead for sure. Sal will probably make it, but I expect plenty of capos biting the pill before this bloodbath ends. And what of New York? They won’t all be on ice forever…
With all the garbage that’s on tv today I’d gladly wait FIVE years for the Sopranos because it’s quality tv among horrible reality, cop and forensic shows
God it’s about time! I’ll be back again for the Sopranos, the writing, the acting, it’s second to none. I’ve watched Desperate Housewives and it just doesn’t measure up. Not saying it’s bad but I just can’t relate I guess.
Duh – No contest – The Sopranos of course!
