Whew! Mad props to the Eckerd Drug chain for giving us some actual Harry Potter news this morning — and sparing you from any further attempts from PopWatch to incorporate Dawson’s Creek‘s Joey Potter into the J.K. Rowling universe.
It seems an Eckerd store in Rosendale, N.Y., ”accidentally” sold a copy of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince to 9-year-old Sylum Mastropaolo on Monday night, breaking the book’s publisher’s firm Saturday midnight release date. While the boy surrendered his copy after reading a mere two pages, that shouldn’t be misinterpreted as a bad review; his stepdad explained the family decided to ”do the right thing” and not ”ruin it for other kids and take away from the experience of everyone reading it together.”
Okay, J.K., so when are you sending little Sylum his autographed copy? (For the rest of us, Half-Blood Prince hits bookshelves Saturday.)
