While I’m stoked to hear that one of my favorite movies all year, Crash, may become a weekly series on FX, I’m also a tad skeptical about reports that its name-brand stars (Don Cheadle, Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, and Ludacris) are in talks to reprise their roles for the small screen. I know that Bullock has guest-starred on The George Lopez Show a couple times, but c’mon, she’s also that sitcom’s producer.
With that in mind, let’s help executive producer Paul Haggis get the preliminary casting discussions under way. You could say that after cowriting and directing the big-screen version of Crash and penning the Oscar-nominated script for Million Dollar Baby, the guy probably doesn’t need our help, but why let reality get in the way of fun here at PopWatch?
For starters, let’s let Blair Underwood and Heather Locklear put that LAX debacle behind them by pinch-hitting for Cheadle and Bullock? We know he can do tough-yet-sensitive, and she needs the warm embrace of her TV fans after her recent Hilary Duff-related critical mauling. And who’s fit to take over for Thandie Newton and Dillon (left), and other Crash stars Ludacris, Brendan Fraser, and Ryan Phillippe? Let the debate begin!

Thadie Newton is easy: Nicole Ari Parker with real life husband Boris Kodjoe playing the Terrance Howard character. Anthony could be played by, Ludacris. It’s not like he’s doing so much that he can’t be part of an ensemble of a 13 episode series. Sgt. Ryan could be played by some cast off from a UPN or WB cancelled series, and Matt Dillon’s character can be played by Scott Bakula.
It’s obvious that the person who stated that Ludacris is not doing anything so big that he can’t take the TV role is oblivious to Luda’s role in Hip Hop – I suggest that she / he speaks intelligently… maybe that person can sell out arenas all over the world then decide how busy he/she is and make an informed opinion.
I seriously doubt that Sandra Bullock, Matt Dillon, Brendan Fraser and Ryan Phillippe are ready to head to TV on a regular basis.
Sandra and Brendan have guest starred on shows. But regulars? No way.

Holy crap! I just watched the show for the first time and only 20 minutes at that. This is THE best show on TV since 24…even with Brandon Frazer. I’m hooked already!
Eventually got leaks of the show, Dennis Hopper is the big name, none of the originals. But have to say: Brilliant show. Starting 18th October 2008..watch it!
Crash: TV series is set to air in Canada on national Pay-TV station Super Channel starting October 20.

Drawing from the racially-charged Oscar award-winning story line of the movie and starring Dennis Hopper at his most outrageous, the show is definitely worth checking out.
